V Srinivas, IIAS president and Rajasthan Chief Secretary, met India’s Ambassador to Greece, Ravi Shankar, at the Indian Embassy in Athens on 13 October, the second day of his official visit. V Srinivas IIAS role at IASIA 2026 in Athens

Srinivas, who heads the Brussels-based International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS), is on a four-day visit to attend the 2026 conference of the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) in Athens. The state release said the discussions with the ambassador were cordial and constructive. His programme includes meetings with global public administration leaders and talks on the work of IIAS.

Key Facts

  • Meeting: 13 October 2026, Indian Embassy, Athens
  • Visit: 4 days for IASIA 2026
  • Role: President, International Institute of Administrative Sciences
  • Next: full Governance Index in Seoul, November

IIAS Governance Index preview

Earlier reports from Jaipur said Srinivas would address the IASIA board, chair the IIAS Council of Administration and give the conference’s inaugural and closing addresses. Indmedia and Udaipur Times reported that he planned to present an early preview of the IIAS Governance Index in Athens, with full methods and country comparisons due at the IIAS conference in Seoul in November. ET Government also reported the visit. The IIAS is a global body that brings together governments, schools of public administration and researchers to study and improve public management. IASIA, its sister association, links institutes that train civil servants around the world.

India Greece relations and what comes next

The release did not list any agreement signed during the meeting, but it said cooperation in personnel administration and governance was the central theme of the talks. Srinivas’s remaining engagements in Athens include meetings with international public administration leaders. Any formal tie-up on civil service training between India and Greece would need follow-up between the two governments. In Jaipur, the state administration continues under the usual arrangements while he is away.

Why It Matters: A sitting Indian chief secretary leading a global administration body gives India a voice in how governance quality is measured worldwide.
