Flipkart Minutes Jaipur dark store found dirty in Diwali food safety raid; ghee, ketchup sampled

Update: this follows our 13 October report on Jaipur's food safety drive in schools and eateries. The festive checks have now reached quick-commerce dark stores.

A Flipkart Minutes Jaipur dark store in Sanganer was found with a dirty chiller room, poor storage and damaged packets during a food safety inspection on 13 October, the Rajasthan health department said. Officials destroyed the damaged products and took samples of ghee and tomato ketchup.

Shuddh Aahar Milawat Par Vaar reaches dark stores

The check was part of the state’s ‘Shuddh Aahar – Milawat Par Vaar’ campaign to keep festival food safe before Diwali. Acting on a complaint, a central team found barcode stickers pasted over the ingredient lists on some products, the department said. Samples of Rich Desi Ghee and Surabhi Tomato Ketchup were taken, and the store management was told to fix hygiene, storage and labelling. Dainik Bhaskar and News18 Hindi also reported the raid.

Key Facts

  • Inspection: 13 October 2026, Sanganer, Jaipur
  • Samples at dark store: ghee and tomato ketchup
  • Lapses: dirty chiller room, damaged packs, stickers over ingredient lists
  • Campaign: Shuddh Aahar – Milawat Par Vaar

Diwali sweets samples across Jaipur

Teams from Jaipur-I and Jaipur-II sampled sweets, milk, paneer, ghee, besan and cooking oil across the city. Samples included mawa sweets and walnut barfi from Rawat Mishthan Bhandar, Saras ghee and besan laddoos from a Zepto dark store, imrati from Sodani Sweets, and used cooking oil from Rajwadi Kachori. Improvement notices are proposed for packaging lapses. A mobile food testing lab also taught students at St Xavier’s school how to read food labels.

Flipkart Minutes Jaipur raid: what buyers should check

Additional Commissioner Bhagwat Singh said checks have been stepped up on mawa, milk, paneer and ghee for the festive season. He asked buyers to check the packet, label and expiry date before buying. All samples will be tested in the lab and action will follow under the rules based on the reports. The department said inspections and sampling will continue right through the festive season.

Why It Matters: Quick-commerce dark stores now supply a big share of festive groceries in cities, so their storage and labelling directly affects what families eat this Diwali.
