“No matter who the criminal is, no one will be spared under any circumstances.”

— CM Bhajanlal Sharma, as quoted by The Times of India

What the CM said at the law and order review

The state’s official release said the CM was angry about recent incidents and the negligence and improper conduct of some police staff, and ordered strict disciplinary action under the rules. He said the law is equal for everyone and that no criminal will be spared. He asked for a district-wise list of mining and land disputes with an action plan to settle them, and a deep review of cases involving police conduct. DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma and ACS (Home) Bhaskar A. Sawant attended.

Festive season, Kalika patrolling units and next steps

With the festive season under way, the CM told officers to keep law and traffic in order and to act on even small incidents before they grow. He asked senior officers to review law and order regularly in their ranges and districts. For women’s safety he ordered smooth running of the Kalika patrolling units and their regular visits to schools and colleges. Disciplinary proceedings against the officers named will now follow under service rules.

Why It Matters: A visible crackdown on police conduct right before Diwali and the panchayat polls is meant to restore public trust and deter mining and land mafias.
