Rajasthan Diwali cleanliness drive: Chief Secretary orders geo-tagged proof of work

The Rajasthan Diwali cleanliness drive is under way in cities across the state, ETV Bharat reported. Chief Secretary V. Srinivas told the JDA and urban bodies on Saturday that negligence would not be tolerated.

Rules for the Rajasthan Diwali cleanliness drive

Srinivas ordered officials to upload dated, geo-tagged before-and-after photos of cleaning and beautification work to a portal, ETV Bharat reported. The aim is to show actual progress on the ground.

Dainik Navajyoti reported that he proposed awards for trade associations that improve lighting, cleanliness and decoration in markets. He also directed that fire-fighting equipment be maintained before the festival.

The 100-day plan

The review covered the 100-day action plan for all urban bodies. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma had asked newly elected heads of urban bodies to finish road, sanitation and basic amenity works before Diwali, the CMO said. Jaipur Development Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan attended the review.

Officials must keep the portal updated with progress before Diwali, so that work can be checked against the photos.
