Burglars steal 251 luxury watches worth ₹3 crore from Jaipur Rado store

Burglars stole 251 luxury watches worth about ₹3 crore from a Rado showroom on Jaipur’s Tonk Road, police said, in an overnight break-in that left display cabinets emptied and security systems under review. Investigators are examining CCTV timelines and whether a known gang linked to high-value jewellery and watch thefts was involved in the raid.

How the break-in unfolded

Police say the thieves forced entry after closing hours, bypassed or disabled alarms, and cleared a large portion of the premium inventory in a short window. Neighbours reported nothing unusual until staff arrived the next morning to find cabinets open and stock missing from shelves that had been locked the night before.

Jaipur’s luxury retail stretch has seen periodic high-value thefts, prompting shops to harden shutters and CCTV coverage. The scale of 251 pieces in one night points to planning, transport and a ready resale chain rather than an opportunistic smash-and-grab.

What police are chasing

Teams are combing interstate highways and known fencing networks. Serial numbers of the stolen watches have been circulated to dealers and online marketplaces to choke quick resale routes. Reporting: India Today.

Jewellers’ groups on Tonk Road said overnight losses of this scale usually trigger temporary cash-and-carry limits until insurers finish inventory checks. Neighbouring CCTV may identify vehicles that lingered after midnight. Police are reviewing shutter sensors and any soft entry through a service door. Management posted a helpdesk for pending orders while appraisers separate damaged display stock from vault holdings that may have survived intact.

Retail security takeaway

Showrooms selling compact, high-value stock remain prime targets unless overnight protocols match the inventory’s street value — a lesson Jaipur’s Tonk Road retailers cannot ignore after this haul. Insurance assessors are expected to visit the showroom as police reconstruct the minutes between alarm silence and the first staff arrival. Shopkeepers on Tonk Road held an informal meeting the same afternoon to review shutter timers and shared night-watch rotas.
