Rajasthan Foundation gets 11 new chapters as CM Bhajan Lal Sharma asks NRRs to invest at home

The Rajasthan Foundation will add 11 new chapters in India and abroad, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma announced on 16 October 2026 at a dialogue with Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur. He called NRRs global brand ambassadors of the state and asked them to invest in their home state, create jobs for local youth and help build new industries.

Where the new Rajasthan Foundation chapters will be

The new chapters include six in India, at Raipur, Lucknow, Patna, Siliguri, Panaji and Visakhapatnam, and four abroad, in San Francisco, Zurich, Milan and Dublin. A Nordic chapter will also be set up in Stockholm to cover Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. With this expansion, the number of chapters will rise from 40 to 51, with 25 in India and 26 overseas, according to the state’s Information and Public Relations Department (DIPR). Udaya News and First India reported the same list. The chief minister said that alongside the tourism slogan ‘Padharo Mhare Desh’, the state now needs the spirit of ‘Padharo Thare Desh’, so that NRRs return to their homeland and contribute to its development.

Key Facts

  • New chapters: 11 (6 in India, 4 abroad, 1 Nordic)
  • Total chapters: 40 to 51 (25 India, 26 abroad)
  • MSME Consent-to-Operate: 120 to 30 days
  • Shekhawati Heritage Meet: 8 Dec; NRR Conference: 10 Dec
  • Event: Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, 16 Oct 2026

Ease of business for Non-Resident Rajasthanis

Sharma listed steps meant to make investment easier. Consent-to-Operate for MSMEs must now be given within 30 days instead of 120, and within 60 days for large industries. The list of white category industries has grown from 104 to 877, and about 190 services of 18 departments are being put on the RAJNIVESH portal. He said the Rs 80,000 crore greenfield refinery and petrochemical project will be a new growth engine, and that the state has 472 industrial areas with about 46,000 working units. The state has also created a Department of Domestic and Overseas Rajasthan Affairs, launched a Rajasthan Development Support Portal, released an NRR Policy-2025 and set up a district NRR cell in every district.

Shekhawati Heritage Meet and December events

The chief minister said a heritage tourism circuit is being built in Sikar, Jhunjhunu and Churu, and that 662 historic havelis have been identified for conservation in Shekhawati. A Shekhawati Heritage Meet will be held on 8 December, and he invited NRRs to a Non-Resident Rajasthani Conference on 10 December. He thanked them for backing the ‘Karmabhumi se Matribhumi’ water campaign, under which about 62,000 groundwater recharge and water conservation structures have been built. Chapter heads from Dubai, Melbourne, Nairobi, New York and several Indian cities spoke at the event, and the coffee table book ‘Vikas ke Sahabhagi’ was released. Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Dr Premchand Bairwa also attended.

Why It Matters: Rajasthanis living elsewhere are a big source of capital and contacts, and more chapters give the state more ways to pull that money back home.
