West Indies post record 405/7 as Campbell, Hope and Jangoo hit centuries in Guwahati

West Indies posted their highest ODI total, 405 for 7, against India in the second one-day international at Guwahati on Wednesday, powered by centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo — the first time three Windies batters have scored hundreds in the same innings.

Three centuries on a batting paradise

Campbell smashed 101 off 68 balls, Hope made 104 off 94, and Jangoo finished on 114 off 77 with 13 fours and three sixes. Campbell and Hope added 110 for the second wicket before Hope and Jangoo put on 182 for the third. The total beat West Indies’ previous best of 389 against England in 2019 and is only the sixth instance of three centuries in one ODI innings.

India’s inexperienced pace attack paid a heavy price. Debutant Auqib Nabi conceded 84, while Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar also went at more than nine an over. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav (2 for 65) and Ravindra Jadeja (2 for 75) offered control; Kuldeep reached 200 ODI wickets during the innings. The visitors’ batting blitz follows India’s eight-wicket win in the first ODI.

India facing a record chase

Only once has a side lost after scoring 400 in an ODI. India must chase 406 — more than they have ever made batting second — under lights at Barsapara. Roston Chase was unbeaten on 29 off 25 as West Indies closed on 405.

Why it matters

The result exposes gaps in India’s pace depth ahead of the 2027 World Cup pathway, while West Indies — fighting for direct qualification — showed rare batting dominance away from home. Ball-by-ball detail is at ESPNcricinfo.
