Exercise KONKAN 2026 is under way off the English coast after the Indian Navy’s guided-missile stealth frigate INS Trishul arrived at Plymouth, the Ministry of Defence said. The India-UK drill is being held in two phases from 8 to 15 October, The Tribune reported.
Inside Exercise KONKAN 2026
The harbour phase includes professional interactions, cross-deck visits, sports fixtures, cultural events and the ship being open to visitors, the ministry said. The sea phase will cover drills in all three domains: air, surface and sub-surface.
Key Facts

Complex drills at sea
Planned serials include cross-deck helicopter landings, firing drills, air defence exercises, seamanship evolutions and anti-submarine warfare, according to the ministry and IANS. The ministry said the exercise has grown in scale and complexity over the past two decades.
Part of a wider partnership
The ministry said KONKAN reflects the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership set out in the India-UK Vision 2035. The drill coincides with INS Sahyadri’s visit to Vladivostok for Exercise INDRA with Russia, showing the Navy operating with very different partners in the same week.
