Rajasthan DGP orders body cameras at checkpoints and Zero FIR in cyber crime cases

Rajasthan DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma has told police across the state to use body cameras at checkpoints and register Zero FIRs in cyber crime cases, after a law and order review at Police Headquarters in Jaipur on 14 October 2026. Range IGs and district SPs joined the meeting by video conference.

Body cameras and Zero FIR orders

Sharma said body cameras at nakabandi, or checkpoint, duty would bring transparency, accountability and professionalism. In cyber crime cases, officers must register Zero FIRs wherever applicable, so that questions over which police station has jurisdiction do not delay action or justice for victims, IANS reported. He also asked for strict enforcement of traffic rules, and told officers to hear complainants regularly and stay courteous and cooperative with the public.

Key Facts

  • Review: 14 October 2026, Police HQ, Jaipur
  • Body cameras: required at checkpoint duty
  • Cyber crime: Zero FIR wherever applicable
  • Old cases: SPs review over 1 year, IGs over 3 years
  • Crime rise trigger: over 5% under BNS/IPC

Rajasthan DGP on pending cases and crime trends

The DGP ordered SPs to review cases pending for more than one year and Range IGs to review those pending for more than three years, with action plans to clear old cases, charge sheets and final reports. Districts where cases under the BNS and IPC have risen by more than 5 per cent must study the trend and draw up plans. Districts with a sharp rise in crimes against women were told to find the causes.

Panchayat elections and festival security

For the coming panchayat elections and festivals, every district must prepare full deployment plans, identify anti-social elements and increase patrolling and checkpoints in sensitive areas. Sharma said negligence would not be tolerated and responsibility would be fixed at every level. He also warned that police staff found linked to crime will be identified and acted against, The Sootr reported.

Why It Matters: Body cameras and Zero FIRs directly affect how citizens are treated at checkpoints and how quickly cyber fraud victims can get a case registered.
