An AI misuse statement from Janhvi Kapoor landed on Sunday, 4 October 2026, after an altered clip of the song Chuttamalle, from the 2024 film Devara: Part 1, spread online. Hindustan Times reported that the video digitally changed her appearance to a sexually explicit one, and that it was taken down after circulating widely. This report does not describe the imagery.
On Instagram Stories, Kapoor wrote: “The criminal misuse of technology to objectify women and circulate fictionalised content without consent is deeply violating, bordering on sexual assault.” She said almost every woman in her industry had faced some version of it, and that consent, choice and respect for a woman’s body were basic, not complicated.

Who the AI misuse statement thanked
She said the issue was larger than one clip: the gaze, the judgement, and “the constant negotiation for safety,” now extended into digital space before physical fear had been dealt with. She thanked Jr NTR for condemning what she called a violation, writing that when someone millions look up to speaks about something that may not concern him directly, “it makes a difference to every woman who has experienced some degree of this behaviour.”
She also thanked Chiranjeevi, Vijay Deverakonda and Khushbu Sundar for amplifying that view and calling for action. She closed with a line she set out as the point of the note: “Her body. Her image. Her boundaries. Her choice.”
Devara: Part 1, released in September 2024, stars Jr NTR and Kapoor. Chuttamalle was composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao. Kapoor’s note did not name a police complaint or a platform ruling. It was a public statement on consent.
