Jaipur: family protests second day over nursing student Prakash Khinchi’s death

By /

Family members of 32-year-old nursing student Prakash Khinchi continued their protest for a second day in Jaipur on Friday, alleging he was murdered and demanding arrests after he was found dead in a hotel near Gandhi Nagar railway station. Relatives and supporters sat outside Bajaj Nagar police station and later blocked Tonk Road for about an hour, snarling traffic through a busy corridor.

Suicide note, cannula, conflicting claims

Police said Khinchi, a resident of Med village in Virat Nagar, had arrived from Agra two days before his death without informing his family and taken a hotel room in the Bajaj Nagar station area. Officers recovered a suicide note and found a cannula inserted in his hand. The family rejects the suicide narrative. Brother Vikram’s FIR alleges that people who took a large sum from Prakash on the pretext of arranging a job killed him when he sought the money back, and raises suspicion over a hotel employee’s role.

Wife Riya Khinchi, the mother and other women from the family joined the sit-in; lawyers supporting them entered the station to press for action. Police said both the family’s allegations and the circumstances of the death are under investigation. The protest adds to a tense fortnight in the city after separate crime headlines — including our ₹100-crore fraud bust.

What investigators must clear

Forensic timelines, CCTV from the hotel corridor, call-detail records and the authenticity of the note will decide whether the case stays a suicide file or upgrades. PTI’s account is carried by ThePrint.

Women’s groups joining the dharna sought a time-bound forensic update, arguing that hotel-room deaths with medical paraphernalia demand more than a routine inquest narrative.

Public pressure

Road blockades raise the political temperature; transparent forensic updates are the fastest way to lower it.
