Amrita Haat Jaipur: Diya Kumari tours 170-stall women’s fair, pushes SHGs to sell online

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari visited the state-level Amrita Haat Jaipur fair at Jawahar Kala Kendra on the evening of 14 October 2026 and urged women’s self-help groups (SHGs) to start selling online. The fair runs from 11 to 20 October and has more than 170 stalls.

What is on sale at Amrita Haat Jaipur

The stalls are run by women’s groups and sell handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and local products, according to the state’s DIPR and Khaskhabar. Diya Kumari, who is also the women and child development minister, walked through the stalls, praised the products, encouraged the sellers and bought some items herself. The Jaipur fair continues until 20 October, and visitors can buy directly from the women who make the goods.

Digital marketing training ordered at the fair

Diya Kumari told the women not to depend only on exhibitions and fairs. She said digital marketing platforms are simple to use and open up a far bigger market than a single stall can reach. She then directed officials to arrange digital marketing training for the participating women at the fair itself, so sellers can learn while they are already in Jaipur. Prabhat Samwad also reported the visit and the training order.

Self-help groups and the state's plan

She said the government’s aim is for every SHG woman to become an entrepreneur and gain recognition at the national level. Fairs like Amrita Haat give rural women a direct link to city buyers, but sales usually stop when the stalls close. Officials did not give sales figures for this edition or say how many women will join the online training.

Why It Matters: Online selling can give village women steady orders all year instead of a few days of sales at a fair.
