Nasha Mukt Yuva drive: 150 youth from seven states join SAI Bhopal fitness and pledge camp

Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat, a drug-free youth campaign, brought more than 150 young people from seven states to the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) in Bhopal on 18 October 2026. The Sports Authority of India’s Central Regional Centre (SAI CRC) Bhopal organised it with MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat), PIB said. The day mixed yoga, games, a pledge against drugs and a FIT India cycling ride.

Who came to the Nasha Mukt Yuva camp in Bhopal

Participants came from Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu, the release said. The campaign aimed to make young people aware of the harm caused by substance abuse and to encourage a healthy, active and drug-free lifestyle through sports, fitness and recreation. The campaign builds on the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ Youth Spiritual Summit held under the same Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat theme in Varanasi in July 2025, which adopted the Kashi Declaration, a five-year roadmap for a youth-led drive against drug abuse. The ministry said then that MY Bharat volunteers and youth clubs would lead pledge campaigns and awareness drives across the country. The Bhopal morning began with a warm-up and yoga session. Paralympian and Asian Games medallist Yash Yadav, the special guest, was welcomed by Gaurav Rawat, Regional Director of SAI CRC Bhopal. “Sports and fitness can play a vital role in keeping our youth away from drugs,” Rawat told participants, adding that the campaign wants young people to contribute to a drug-free and developed India.

Sports Authority of India: Game zone, tug of war and the Nasha Mukt Bharat pledge

Participants took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, recommitting themselves to staying away from substance abuse and spreading awareness. The highlight was a theme-based game zone that paired the drug-free message with sporting challenges. It included the FIT India Fitness Challenge, with skipping and squats, along with basketball, archery, Shoot the Canes, tug of war and Ball in the Bucket. Rawat and Mangal Jakhar, State Director of MY Bharat, opened the zone with a tug-of-war contest between two teams. SAI CRC Bhopal assistant directors Rajat Sharma and Naveen Kumar Gobbru, District Youth Officer Umang Jain and SAI coaches also attended.

Sunday on Cycle and the FIT India, HIT India message

Rawat and Jakhar then joined the youths for a special edition of Sunday on Cycle, run under the FIT India Movement. Riders circled the IIFM campus carrying the slogan “FIT India, HIT India” and urging young people to build physical activity into daily routines. The programme ended with prizes for participants. SAI CRC Bhopal said the event reaffirmed its commitment to reaching young people through sports, fitness and community participation, in support of a healthier, drug-free lifestyle for India’s youth.

Why It Matters: Sports-led anti-drug camps give young people a practical alternative to substance abuse and link fitness to the wider Nasha Mukt Bharat goal.
