Diwali Faral, Maharashtra’s festive platter of homemade snacks and sweets, can be sent to family abroad through India Post’s International Parcel Service at economical rates, the Maharashtra Postal Circle said on 18 October 2026. A 10 kg parcel costs from Rs 4,797 to Japan to Rs 11,912 to Australia, according to the rates shared by the Department of Posts. Free home collection and quick packing at major post offices are also on offer.

How Diwali Faral parcels work through India Post
The circle said its campaign encouraging people to send Faral and festive gifts overseas has drawn an encouraging response. Rates listed for a 10 kg parcel are Rs 6,461 to the United Kingdom, Rs 6,750 to Russia, Rs 4,797 to Japan, Rs 11,912 to Australia, Rs 9,676 to Canada, Rs 5,876 to Germany, Rs 9,051 to the United States and Rs 6,638 to France. Why the Maharashtra Postal Circle is promoting the service now
Diwali is a time for sharing, and for families with relatives overseas, sending Faral is a way to share the flavours of Maharashtra across borders, the release said. Chief Postmaster General Ramchandra Jaybhaye thanked people for their response, wished them a happy Diwali and urged them to use India Post’s international parcel services. People who cannot visit a post office can use free home collection, with postmen picking up parcels from homes. For help between 8 am and 8 pm, the circle listed contacts in Mumbai: Assistant Superintendent of Post Offices Hanmant Chirme (+91 98701 43136) and Marketing Executive Vinod Panchal (+91 88502 61634). In Navi Mumbai, the contacts are Inspector of Posts Prakash More (+91 96048 21634) and Marketing Executive Sundar Rao (+91 96194 53586).
What senders should check before packing Faral
Jaybhaye advised customers to fill in the customs declaration form carefully when booking Faral parcels. The correct HSN code must be given for each item. If the parcel also carries other things, such as clothing, their description, HSN code and value must be declared separately. Correct and complete declarations help avoid delays at customs in the destination country, he said. Senders should also check the destination country’s own import rules for food before booking, since those rules are set abroad and are not part of the India Post release.
