MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro launched in India; Oppo Find X10 Pro Max to debut it

Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek launched the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro and the Dimensity 9600M, its new flagship smartphone processors, at its Tech Day in New Delhi on Tuesday, 6 October 2026. The 9600 Pro is built on a 2nm process, and Oppo has confirmed that its Find X10 Pro Max will be the first phone in India to use it. MediaTek said the first phones with both chips should arrive this quarter.

Two NPUs and room for 30-billion-parameter models

MediaTek is pitching the new chip heavily on artificial intelligence. It pairs the NPU 1090 with a second-generation Super-Efficient NPU and the company’s Dimensity Agentic AI Engine, and can run on-device AI models with up to 30 billion parameters. MediaTek claims 51% higher LLM prefill performance, 55% more tokens generated per watt and a 40% cut in always-on AI power use.

MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro: faster CPU, gaming at up to 185fps

The Dimensity 9600 Pro uses a 2+3+3 all-big-core CPU layout led by two C2-Ultra cores clocked at up to 4.55GHz. MediaTek claims 17% better single-core and 15% better multi-core performance than the previous generation, with 61% lower multi-core power consumption. Its G2-Ultra NX GPU promises 27% higher peak performance, 24% lower power draw, 18% faster ray tracing and gaming at up to 185fps. The Imagiq 1290 image processor supports 4K video at 240fps and 4K 120fps cinematic Log recording.

Dimensity 9600M and the Find X10 series

The Dimensity 9600M is based on the 3nm Dimensity 9500 platform, with a 1+3+4 CPU layout led by a C1-Ultra core at up to 4.21GHz. Smartprix reports that it is expected in the standard Oppo Find X10 and the Vivo X500, although MediaTek has not named those phones.

Goldee Patnaik, head of communications at Oppo India, said the Find X10 series will arrive in the coming weeks. Oppo is also bringing its Laminar Flow Engine, developed with MediaTek, to the series to speed up app launches. It has not yet announced a launch date or Indian prices.
