CM Bhajanlal launches ₹1,277 crore Shekhawati projects, pushes Yamuna water

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma launched infrastructure and welfare projects worth ₹1,277 crore across the Shekhawati region and renewed the push for Yamuna water to ease local scarcity. The package of 83 projects spans roads, urban amenities and rural works aimed at a belt long associated with migration, dry wells and delayed sanctions.

What the ₹1,277 crore covers

Officials listed road upgrades, civic works and rural schemes among the launches, framing them as a catch-up for districts that have waited on file movement. Local MLAs accompanied the CM as foundation stones and inaugurations were rolled into a single regional outreach designed for visible political credit.

Separately, Sharma stressed progress on Yamuna water allocation for Rajasthan, tying drinking-water security to the same message as roads and jobs. Residents in arid pockets of Shekhawati have long demanded both connectivity and reliable supply before another summer peaks.

Politics of regional catch-up

Opposition parties will test whether announcements convert into completed works before the next election cycle. The CM’s team wants site progress within months, not just plaques and press notes that fade after the convoy leaves. Reporting: The News Mill.

PWD engineers said the package will mix new alignments with strengthening of stretches that fail under monsoon runoff. Panchayats asked for side drains and safe school crossings so higher design speeds do not raise accident risk. Tourism operators argue all-weather roads will extend the Shekhawati heritage season beyond winter weekends. Officials promised a public dashboard for tender awards once the first packages are floated.

Water remains the longer battle

Even with new roads, Shekhawati’s future hinges on whether Yamuna and other water projects move from promise to pipe — the metric voters will remember longer than any single inauguration day. District collectors have been asked to file fortnightly progress notes so that the ₹1,277 crore announcement does not dissolve into unfinished trench lines. Shekhawati traders welcomed the road package but asked for time-bound water pipelines before the next peak tourism and marriage season.
