Asian Games final day is Saturday, 3 October, and India’s individual medal chances sit alongside the two team finals. Recurve archery starts the morning in Japan. Wrestling medal matches are listed for the afternoon at the Inae Sports Complex in Nagoya. Golf plays its last round. None of those results were in when the day began in India.
Archery and wrestling on Asian Games final day
The published schedule sends Kumkum Mohod against South Korea’s Kang Chae-young in the women’s recurve quarter-final at 5:30 am IST, with semi-final and medal matches only if she goes through. Dhiraj Bommadevara meets Uzbekistan’s Amirkhon Sadikov at 9:30 am. Neeraj Chauhan meets Bhutan’s Lam Dorji at 10:15 am. Later cards, marked subject to qualification, name Deepak Punia in the men’s 97kg freestyle gold-medal match, Antim Panghal in the women’s 53kg bronze and gold matches, and Manisha Bhanwala in the women’s 57kg.
Aman Sehrawat and Sagar Jaglan are also among the wrestling names on India’s hope list for the last day. A place on that list is not a medal. The draw still has to produce the final or the bronze bout.
Golf, and the tally they are adding to
In golf, Aditi Ashok, Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Sharath Urs are in the women’s individual and team finish, with the men’s last round also on the card. After Friday, India Today counted 76 medals for India: 16 gold, 25 silver and 35 bronze, good for fifth place. Archery had already added a team gold and a silver on that Friday. Asian Games final day is the last chance to move those numbers before the contingent comes home.
Cricket against Pakistan and hockey against Malaysia are separate fixtures on the same date. The individual sports are the rest of the morning and the late afternoon, and they will be scored one bout and one round at a time.
