Income Tax searches at 12 Mumbai locations linked to Rakul Preet Singh, Vashu Bhagnani and Panorama Studios

The Income Tax Department on Monday began search operations at 12 locations in Mumbai linked to actor Rakul Preet Singh, her father-in-law and producer Vashu Bhagnani, and production house Panorama Studios. The Income Tax searches are reportedly connected to suspected irregularities involving money allegedly sent abroad in connection with film projects.

What is known so far

According to reports citing department sources, the operation is being carried out by the Mumbai unit of the Income Tax Department across homes and offices connected to the film personalities and companies. The nature of the alleged transactions and the amounts involved have not been disclosed. Officials have not said whether any violation has been established, and no one has been charged.

Rakul Preet Singh is married to producer Jackky Bhagnani, son of Vashu Bhagnani, whose family is associated with Pooja Entertainment. Panorama Studios, led by Kumar Mangat Pathak, is a prominent production and distribution company in Hindi cinema.

Timing ahead of a major release

The searches come days before Panorama’s next big release, Drishyam: The Conclusion, scheduled to reach cinemas on 2 October. The film has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification without cuts, according to trade reports. There was no indication that the release schedule would be affected.

Search operations of this kind are an investigative step and do not by themselves indicate wrongdoing. The film industry has had a busy week, including the delayed Ramayana promotional event.
