Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said the government is willing to fund 100% of the acquisition cost of the best testing equipment for shared medical-device facilities, according to a report by Daily Excelsior. He also urged companies and institutions to pursue technology partnerships and joint ventures, and called for stronger intellectual-property protection.

The proposal targets a practical constraint in medical-device development: access to reliable testing infrastructure. Shared facilities could help manufacturers and researchers evaluate products without each organisation buying every high-end instrument. Technology partnerships and JVs, meanwhile, could connect Indian firms with external know-how, manufacturing experience and routes to global customers.
