SDRF Rajasthan, the state’s disaster response force, has won first place in the regional round of the National CBRN Competition 2026, organised by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the state government said on 16 October 2026. The contest was held from 12 to 15 October at the 5th Battalion of the NDRF in Pune, Maharashtra. Gujarat’s team came second. The result was announced by the state’s Information and Public Relations Department.

How SDRF Rajasthan won the regional round
SDRF Rajasthan Commandant Revant Dan said the competition was the second, regional level of the national contest. Teams from the State Disaster Response Forces of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra took part. The event tested how well disaster forces handle chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) emergencies, judging their technical skill, professional ability, speed of response and teamwork. A 21-member Rajasthan team led by platoon commanders Ashish Banshiwal and Hemant Dayma won the round over four days of tests and drills. SDRF Rajasthan comes under the state’s Police (Home) Department, according to the DIPR listing. Hindusthan Samachar, Sach Kahoon and Khas Khabar all reported Rajasthan’s first place and Gujarat’s second, based on the state’s release.
Key Facts
- Contest: National CBRN Competition 2026, regional round
- Venue: 5th Battalion NDRF, Pune, 12-15 Oct 2026
- Result: Rajasthan 1st, Gujarat 2nd
- Other teams: Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra
- Team size: 21; national round proposed in Nov 2026
What a CBRN emergency demands
The state said CBRN disasters are highly sensitive and difficult to manage. In such situations, responders must safely assess the affected area, identify the risks, follow set safety procedures, use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, handle contaminated people and areas, and work closely as a team. Competitions like this give forces a chance to test their readiness, sharpen technical skills and share experience with forces from other states. The government credited the result to the hard work, discipline, training and commitment of the force’s personnel, and said it strengthens SDRF’s preparation to deal with CBRN and other disasters in Rajasthan.
National finals planned for November
A national-level competition between all regional winners and runners-up is proposed for November 2026, so Rajasthan’s team now moves on to face the best teams from other regions. The state government said the force’s aim is to meet every disaster with readiness, efficiency and commitment, and that the win will motivate its personnel to keep protecting lives. The state described the result as a matter of pride for Rajasthan, and Commandant Revant Dan shared the details. For Rajasthan, which faces floods, industrial accidents and other hazards, a well-trained disaster response force matters well beyond competitions. A strong showing in the national round would add to the force’s reputation for disaster response across the country.
