Shishu Sanjeevani launched: Diya Kumari starts twice-weekly nutrition food for Jaipur anganwadi kids

Update: TrendDesh reported Diya Kumari's Amrita Haat visit on 15 Oct. This story adds the Shishu Sanjeevani launch and the follow-up digital training she announced on 17 Oct.

Shishu Sanjeevani, a supplementary nutrition food rich in vitamins and minerals, was launched by Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Diya Kumari at an anganwadi in Jaipur’s Vidyadhar Nagar on 17 October 2026, the state’s information department (DIPR) said. The supplement will be given to children aged 3 to 6 years twice a week. During the visit, she also performed kanya pujan, served halwa to young girls and gave them gifts, and inspected the anganwadi centre.

How Shishu Sanjeevani will reach anganwadi children

Diya Kumari said the supplement would be provided with the support of Nand Ghar, an initiative of Vedanta. According to DIPR, the state government wants to ensure timely growth, proper development and a bright future for young children, and Nand Ghar is also working to improve child nutrition and early childhood care. The release did not give the number of centres or children to be covered in the first phase. The minister linked the step to the state’s larger goals, saying the foundation of a strong Rajasthan can only be laid by healthy children and empowered daughters. Children aged three to six attend anganwadis for pre-school learning as well as meals, which makes the centres a natural place to deliver extra nutrition.

Key Facts

  • Launched: 17 Oct 2026, Vidyadhar Nagar anganwadi, Jaipur
  • Who gets it: children aged 3-6 years
  • How often: twice a week
  • Partner: Nand Ghar (Vedanta)
  • Also announced: digital marketing training at every WCD exhibition

Digital marketing lessons at Amrita Haat

On the same day, Diya Kumari was chief guest at a special digital marketing training for self-help group (SHG) women taking part in the state-level Amrita Haat at Jawahar Kala Kendra. The workshop was held in the Rangayan auditorium by the Directorate of Women Empowerment. She said that during her earlier visit to the fair she found SHG women were selling very little online, and this workshop was organised to address that. Women in business need financial literacy, she said, because making a product is not enough: it has to reach the right market. Experts trained participants in using Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp Business, online branding, product photos and videos, online payments and packaging.

Training at every exhibition, says the minister

Diya Kumari announced that digital marketing and financial literacy workshops would now be held at every state-level and district-level exhibition organised by the Women and Child Development department. She asked government and private institutions, banks and e-commerce companies to support these women entrepreneurs. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of ‘vocal for local, local for global’, she said Rajasthan’s art, handicrafts and SHG products were outstanding and needed digital platforms to reach the world. Women today, she said, do not ask for jobs but give jobs to other women.

Why It Matters: Anganwadis are where most young children in poorer families get extra nutrition, so a regular vitamin-rich supplement can help close gaps before school age.
