Jaipur World Heritage status: High Court opens suo motu PIL on Walled City

The Rajasthan High Court has opened a suo motu PIL to protect Jaipur World Heritage status. A division bench voiced concern at the ‘alarming degradation’ of the Walled City, LiveLaw reported. The case began from a Rajasthan Patrika report.

Concerns over Jaipur World Heritage status

The bench of Chief Justice Sanjay K. Agrawal and Justice Sameer Jain heard the matter. It cited failure to implement the 2020 heritage regulations. Illegal construction and encroachments have spread in buffer zones, the court noted.
