Post-Matric Scholarship Budget for SC Students Raised to u20b96,208 Crore

The Central government has significantly strengthened financial support for Scheduled Caste students by increasing actual expenditure under the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme from about u20b95,475 crore in 2023u201324 to u20b96,208 crore for the 2025u201326 period.

The centrally sponsored scheme provides essential assistance to SC students studying at post-matriculation and higher levels, covering tuition and related academic costs so that economic barriers do not force talented students to drop out.

Officials said the higher outlay reflects the government’s continued focus on inclusive education and social empowerment. Education activists have called for faster fund disbursement to state agencies and direct benefit transfers so that students receive scholarships on time at the start of each academic year.

Universities and state welfare departments are expected to update beneficiary lists and streamline verification to utilise the expanded budget fully.
