Awarapan 2 Crosses u20b9150 Crore Worldwide in Six Days; Emraan Hashmi Franchise Returns Strong

Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 has stormed the box office, crossing the u20b9150 crore worldwide mark within just six days of release. India net collections are estimated at around u20b9107.5 crore, making it one of the strongest openings of the year for a crime-drama franchise sequel.

Producer Vishesh Bhatt revealed that Emraan Hashmi was initially hesitant about returning to the franchise, but the final script and audience nostalgia for the original film convinced the team to move ahead. Trade analysts say strong word-of-mouth and a loyal fan base of the 2007 original have driven the sequel’s performance across multiplexes and single screens.

In contrast, Sunny Deol’s period drama Batwara 1947 continues to struggle for screens and footfalls amid ongoing industry debates over screen-sharing and release windows. Exhibitors note that limited screen availability in key circuits has affected mid-budget titles competing against bigger franchise films.

Industry trackers expect Awarapan 2 to sustain its run through the weekend if occupancy remains healthy in major cities.
